Anyone who has ever owned a lamp has faced this problem before. You’re lying there, enjoying the heat and the light, when you hear a noise and suddenly, the light is dim! The bulb has gone out. The solution should be simple – all you need to do is replace the bulb and you can get back to your relaxing quality time with your lamp. But for tanning bulbs, it’s somewhat more complicated. When something like this happens, the question is: how do you know which tanning bulbs you need, and where do you get it?

It is of course possible to go to the store, rattle off the name of the model and have them provide you with the appropriate tanning bulbs. But it is also possible to do it yourself.

The type of lamp is always important. Most of the time your lamp will be a 100 watt F71 type, with bi-pin connectors on both ends. When measured from cap to cap it is around 70 inches long. This is the most common replacement lamp and has many manufacturers and models to choose from. As long as they are 100 watt, your device should be back working again in no time. Simply drive to the nearest hardware store, buy the appropriate tanning bulbs and you’re set. Not everyone has the lamp described above. Some have an F72 lamp instead, which has a regular connector at the end rather than two pins. The difference is easy to see.

Even if your lamp isn’t broken, it’s a good idea to change your starters once every two years. You’ll know that it’s time when your bulb begins to be sluggish while starting up. It might be an added cost, but keeping your starters working properly means you will pay much less for repair when they break and disrupt something else with them.

Bulb replacement is recommended when the output is 60% of the original value. This is around 800 hours of using. It is possible to keep using them until they are down to 30%, but this is not recommended as the quality of your tan will be affected.

If you’re using the tanning bed in a salon and would like to accurately know when it is time to change the tanning bulbs, invest in an UV light meter. This device will measure lamp output and clearly show you when it is declining. Make sure to measure at least once when the bulbs are new so you can see the difference easily.

EDIT: To the person below me, you must not have been tanning right, to have wrinkles at 18 years of age. I know a guys who have been tanning for over 15 years who have perfect skin, and it’s as tight as it could be. I could certainly see it though, most young girls overexpose themselves too much during the summer with laying out constantly and even using the booths in addition to that. The fact is, you can tan daily in a booth for years and have perfect skin because it’s moderate exposure. So having your own bed and tanning everyday is perfectly fine, as long as the days you use it you avoid the sun completely.

Any help is much appreciated. I use paramour by designer skin if that’s any help.

Sometimes first i would check and see if they have a return policy then i would try it if not then i wouldn’t
second if it is more than 20 dollars cheaper than it is at the tanning bed then i wouldn’t
third if it is a brand you havn’t seen anywhere else or have heard of then don’t buy it

Serious tanners get very serious about their tanning bed lotions! There are so many tanning bed lotions on the market today that it is often hard to determine which lotion is the right lotion for you. There are lotions that ensure deeper darker tans. There are lotions that promise to prevent wrinkles and even diminish wrinkles. There are lotions that swear that they prevent premature aging of the skin. There are lotions that promise to do all sorts of things – but do they really?

In a word – no. What they do is make your skin a bit softer. They also help to reduce the skin drying affects of the UV rays – which does cause wrinkles and aging. So, maybe in a sense, they do what they actually claim to do. But if you are a forty year old woman, the chances are very good that tanning with a tanning lotion that promises to reduce wrinkles is not going to have you walking out of the salon looking thirty! Just don’t buy into the hype. Find a good tanning lotion that helps you tan a little faster, while keeping your skin moisturized. Tanning oils are not recommended for indoor tanning beds – creamy lotions that are easily absorbed into the skin are the way to go.

Tanning indoors is vastly different from tanning outdoors. You cannot use the lotions that you use outdoors in tanning beds. Outdoor tanning lotions and oils are designed to stand up to wind and long hours in the sunshine. They are not designed for people who intend to be fully dressed in their street clothes fifteen or twenty minutes after applying the lotion! A good indoor tanning lotion is required, as opposed to an outdoor tanning lotion.

Indoor tanning lotions are designed for people who will be getting dressed again in less than half an hour. Many of them don’t even have that ‘tanning lotion smell’ to them. Tanning lotions can be quite expensive. Indoor tanning lotions are a great deal more costly than outdoor tanning lotions – simply because salon tanning has become so popular in recent years. You can save money by not buying your lotion from your tanning salon – or even from a tanning bed dealer! Instead, get closer to the source by shopping online at the wholesale tanning suppliers websites. Tanning lotion does not go bad after a period of time as long as the container remains closed. This means that you can comfortably purchase your favorite tanning lotion in bulk, at a greatly reduced price!

Before using any new tanning lotion, apply just a little bit to one small area on your body, and then wait twenty four to forty eight hours before tanning, and before applying more lotion. Those are the places i have tried tanning at so far and the lotions they sold me gave me a gold tan because i am a beginner so i think they wanted to start me off with something weak. I have been tanning for almost 1 year now and i want to get that really really DARK BROWN tan instead of the golden tan.

You just in the tanning room take your clothes off than put the lotion on tan… tan get out whip your sweat off and than get dressed & leave your done! & lay down beds are much better ive tried them both and lay down is sooo much better. & if you just got your tattoo than yes your not supposed to tan but if its been awhile i think you should be fine but yes ask the people that work there they should help!

And please don’t tell me not to tan. i’m only going to do it to get a bit of a glow.

ive been tanning for about a year without any tanning lotions,ive tried them but you get the same result with them or without them.so you dont have to buy anything.
But use googles!if youre going for 5 min. then you dont have to but when youre going to go for 10,15 or 20 min then you have to use them cause its really not healthy cause the skin on your eyes is very thin.
