Is it safe to open your eyes when wearing eye shields from a tanning salon when sun baking looking at the sun?

The lens are dark but still see through. Do they prevent the harmful rays from reaching your eye?

Yes it is safe, provided the lenses used are blocking 99.9% UVB ray and 99% of the UVA ray. If you get the shields from a tanning salon they are required to be this strong by the state board so your safe to open your eyes.
